Types of frauds and how to avoid them:
Phishing links
Fraudsters create phishing websites imitating a bank's website or search engine and circulate the links. Do not click on unknown/unverified links that you receive via SMS/social media/email/instant messenger, etc.
Vishing calls
Imposters call people pretending to be someone else and trick customers into sharing confidential details. Never share your username/password/card details/CVV/OTP with anyone over a telephone call/ social media.
Frauds using online sales platforms
Fraudsters pretend to be buyers on online sales platforms and show an interest in sellers' product/s. Steer clear from entering your PIN/password to receive money from a buyer.
Frauds due to the use of
unknown/unverified mobile apps
Never download an application from any unverified/unknown sources or on being asked by an unknown person. Always check on the publishers/owners of the app, user ratings, as well as the permission/s and access to your data.
Frauds using screen sharing app/
remote access
Fraudsters trick the customer to download a screen-sharing app and take control of the customer's mobile/laptop to gain access to financial information.
ATM card skimming
Fraudsters may install devices in and around ATMs to steal data from a customer's card, or their PIN. Cover the keypad and take extra precautions while using an ATM.
SIM swap/SIM cloning
Never share the identity credentials of your SIM card as the fraudsters may obtain a duplicate SIM.
