Beware of fraudulent transactions using ‘AnyDesk’ app
Dear Customer,

Thank you for banking with Standard Chartered Bank.
There have been instances of fraudulent transactions using the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) platform through which scammers target customer phones. Details as below
Fraudster would lure the victim on some pretext to download a mobile application called ‘AnyDesk’ from Play Store or App Store. It may be noted that there are more apps similar to ‘Anydesk’ that help provide remote access of device to users.
An app code (nine-digit number) would be generated on victim’s device which the fraudster would ask the victim to share.
Once the fraudster inserts this app code on his device, he would ask the victim to grant certain permissions, which are similar to what are required while using other apps.
Post this, the fraudster gets full access to the victim’s device.
Further, the mobile credential is vished from the customer and the fraudster then carry out transactions through the mobile app already installed on the customer’s device.
These steps can be used to carry out transactions through any Mobile banking or Payment related app (Including UPI, wallets etc.)
Follow these simple steps to keep your account safe:
Always ensure that your latest mobile number and email ID are updated with the Bank, so you don't miss on critical information related to your account and immediately inform your bank in case of a fraud. Update your profile instantly using Online banking or SC Mobile
Use only trusted third party apps like BHIM, PhonePe, Paytm, Google Pay for carrying UPI transactions
Do not share personal details or OTP to apps which seem suspicious
Standard Chartered Bank will never ask you for confidential information through emails, SMS, phone calls or in person. Beware of anyone asking you for details like OTP/PIN/Password on behalf of the Bank
Monitor your transaction alerts and report any unusual activity in the account immediately
Always log out from online banking once you have completed your transaction and avoid banking on free networks
