Investment in “A-Shares”
With rapid advancements in technology, recently fraudsters have again come up with new ways to make investing in "A-Shares" become a trap at any time!
- Scammers impersonate specialists and invite people to join their investment classroom groups through SMS or instant messaging applications. They offer inside information, low-risk investments, and high returns as bait, tempting you to click on suspicious links to download fake apps or open accounts, and may even request you to transfer funds to unknown personal bank accounts.
- To gain your trust, the fraudsters may deliver a small return or fake profit records. However, after you have deposited more, they will flee and leave you with nothing.
Anti-fraud tips - What should you do if you receive suspicious messages?
Ignore the message and delete it immediately |
Contact the relevant institution through official channels to verify the authenticity of the message |
Call the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222” for enquiries |
Click on any hyperlinks embedded in messages to log in to websites or download files |
For general suspicious messages, you can undertake a security check by entering the suspicious calling number, website or transferee’s account number on “Scameter” or “Scameter+”, the mobile application of “Scameter” 1.
For investment-related messages, you can also check the public register of licensed persons and registered institutions on the website of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and invest through registered investment institutions. |
